Breaking News:Lions starting cornerback jerry jacobs has officially left the team due to……

The Detroit Lions veteran cornerback is set to leave the club as the Lions have no intention of extending his current contract.

It looks like Jerry Jacobs’s time in Detroit is coming to an end.According to ESPN, the Lions do not intend to tender Jacobs in restricted free agency. Furthermore, even though a new deal might still be reached, Jacobs has already stated he is ready to move on.

He can begin negotiating with other teams on Monday and is expected to hit unrestricted free agency when the new league year begins next Wednesday.

Jacobs posted on Twitter, saying, “I am not going to let this get the best of me, no matter how disappointed I am.” “I am continuing to live my life.”

In 2021, Jacobs was signed as an undrafted free agent. His tough, physical brand of cornerbacking won over both the coaching staff and the fans during training camp, earning him an unlikely spot on the roster.

When forced onto the field by injuries as a rookie, he performed admirably and later recovered from his own ACL injury.

In total, he started 29 games, intercepted four passes, and defended 23.

However, Jacobs had some severe setbacks the previous season and was ultimately benched in favor of Kindle Vildor, a midseason acquisition.

Jacobs appears to be ready to move on after spending the entire season on injured reserve.

Detroit has re-signed Emmanuel Moseley to compete for the other outside cornerback position, and Cam Sutton will return to that position. This offseason, the team is anticipated to look for a starting-level addition through the draft or free agency.
