Report: Donovan Peoples-Jones re-signed by the Detroit Lions
Donovan Peoples-Jones, a wide receiver from the area, is allegedly back with the Detroit Lions for another season.
NFL insider Jordan Schultz reports that wide receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones is re-signing with the Detroit Lions to a one-year contract worth up to $2 million.
Only a few months have passed since the Lions acquired the former Wolverine. The Lions traded Peoples-Jones to the Cleveland Browns for a 2025 sixth-round pick at the trade deadline.
Peoples-Jones only caught five catches for 58 yards in the following eight Lions regular-season games, although he did make a few huge conversions in pivotal situations in a couple of Detroit contests.
In addition, Peoples-Jones filled in as a competent punt returner after Kalif Raymond sustained an injury late in the season.
Peoples-Jones, who is back with the Lions for another season, gets the chance to get to know Jared Goff better and possibly become a more useful weapon in Detroit’s offense.
Peoples-Jones demonstrated his legitimacy as a receiving threat in 2022 when he caught 61 catches for 839 yards and three scores while playing for the Browns.
The majority of the Lions’ receiving corps from the previous season will return in 2024, as of right now. Jameson Williams is projected to start at Amon-Ra St.
Brown is approaching the end of his deal; Raymond, Antoine Green, Tom Kennedy, Maurice Alexander, Daurice Fountain, and Tre’Quan Smith are all signed with Detroit.
Whether Josh Reynolds, an unrestricted free agent at the moment, will still be around in 2024 is the key question. There had been no updates on Reynolds’ return as of Saturday afternoon.
