Jim Caldwell is leaving UCLA to take a position as the Detroit Lions’ offensive coordinator after serving as Westwood’s coordinator for the previous six seasons. Bruce Feldman of The Athletic broke the initial news about the move on Friday afternoon.
Bill O’Brien, who played for the New England Patriots in 2023, was previously hired by the Detroit Lions to take over the offensive coordinator position.
Nonetheless, he was appointed as Boston College’s new head coach following Jeff Hafley’s departure to become the Green Bay Packers’ defensive coordinator.
Kelly, 60, led the Bruins for six years, going 35-34. In the previous three seasons, he had at least eight victories, and he concluded 2023 with an 8-5 record.
In the redesigned Big Ten, the former Oregon head coach will continue to lead the Buckeyes. On October 12, the team will play the Ducks in Eugene.
