GOOD NEWS: Duke Blue Devils Injury Update

Jeremy Roach: Roach experienced a right knee injury during the second half of Duke’s 84-79 victory over Georgia Tech. Despite the initial scare, imaging results were positive, indicating no serious damage. He is considered day-to-day and may miss a few practices but could return for the upcoming game against Pittsburgh

A right knee injury limited Roach throughout the second half of Saturday’s 84-79 victory over Georgia Tech. After a turnover, he was given a ball and winced as he dribbled up the court. After a few minutes, he came back to the game for a short while before leaving again. In addition to ranking second on the team in scoring (14.6), Roach has been Duke’s most reliable player this year with a 3.2 assist-turnover ratio (51 assists, 16 turnovers).

Not only is it obviously concerning, but Roach tore his ACL in the same knee during his high school career.

The Blue Devils got Sunday off and won’t practice again until Saturday night when they play Pittsburgh, according to Scheyer.

“On Tuesday, we’ll assess his current state,” Scheyer stated. “I’m hoping for Saturday, but I doubt he’ll be able to practice for the next few days.”

Due to Roach’s departure, the Blue Devils were down two starters: forward
Mark Mitchell: Mitchell missed the recent game against Georgia Tech due to a sprained knee. His status is being monitored day-to-day, similar to Roach, and his return to practice is currently uncertain.
Mitchell Markinjured his knee and missed the game. Duke, with its third-best scorer (12.2), will also approach things day by day.

Scheyer stated of his sophomore, “He felt better yesterday because it was a day off.” “He needs to keep getting better, but he won’t
