Journalist Dean Jones told GIVEMESPORT that Everton midfielder Dele Alli has been going through a rough patch at Goodison Park and he wonders if we will ever see the former Tottenham Hotspur player playing football again.

Dele joined Everton in January 2022 for a possible £40 million transfer fee. Due to performance-related add-ons accounting for the majority of the possible sum, the Toffees have not paid a dime for Dele, despite the 27-year-old making just 13 appearances for the Merseyside team.The £100k-per-week earner is currently on the treatment table and has not appeared in any games under Sean Dyche this season.

Without a doubt, Dele would have been a wise addition for the Toffees if Everton could have given him a chance to emulate some of the performances we saw during his time at Spurs. Dele, though, has had a difficult time lately for a variety of reasons.

Dele revealed his mental health issues to former Manchester United defender Gary Neville in 2023, and this will have had a significant effect on his playing career. The former MK Dons player addressed other personal problems during his six-week stay in rehab to help him overcome his addiction to sleeping pills.

After his recent injury problems, Jones has hinted that he is unsure if we will see Dele don an Everton shirt once more. The journalist goes on to say that he is beginning to question if we will see him sporting a club shirt in the future, perhaps implying that he may be retiring from the game. “I doubt that we’ll ever see Dele wear an Everton jersey again. As time passes, you start to wonder if he will ever put on a shirt of any kind again. This injury has no time frame. This is yet another blow. He had a conversation with Gary Neville, and when the documentary about him was released, he gave us all the explanations for the problems in his life and the history that none of us would have truly known about before that point.”
