Everton could be subject to more fines after their most recent 2022–2023 financial statements revealed a staggering £89.1 million loss—nearly twice as much as the previous year.
According to the Toffees’ most recent financial data, they lost an incredible £255 million during the three-year period, which allows Premier League clubs to lose up to £105 million.
Earlier in the season, the Merseyside team was deducted 10 points for violating the Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) of the English league. However, that penalty was eventually lowered to six on appeal.
They have been accused of a second PSR violation and are now subject to additional penalties.
The second charge hearing was held last week, and the decision is expected to be made by April 8.
The club has pointed to a number of mitigating reasons for the losses, such as the permanent suspension of sponsorship agreements with important business partners.
They might have to let go of at least one important player this summer due to their current financial circumstances.
This season, Everton is fighting to stay in the Premier League.Just three points above the drop zone, they presently hold the 16th position in the table.
They were defeated 2-1 by Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday due to an own goal in stoppage time by Seamus Coleman.
Now, Sean Dyche’s team has lost all 12 of their Premier League games.
