Everton “willing to give up important player to maintain Manchester United target” statusAccording to reports, Everton is willing to “sacrifice” a senior player in order to hang onto Jarrad Branthwaite, a target for Manchester United this summer.
Branthwaite, who made 40 starts in all competitions last season, has since established himself as a vital member of the first squad at Goodison Park following a fruitful stint on loan at PSV Eindhoven.
In his 34 Premier League games thus far, the 21-year-old has assisted the Toffees in keeping 12 clean sheets while also contributing three goals. He has also established a solid defensive tandem with James Tarkowski.
In addition to being a target for several elite European teams ahead of the summer transfer window—most notably Manchester United—Braithwaite’s performance at the club level has him in the running for an England call-up for Euro 2024.
Since Raphael Varane has announced that he would be departing the team when his contract expires in June, it is believed that the Red Devils have made Brathwaite one of their main defensive targets.
Everton is committed to holding onto Branthwait.
With Branthwaite’s contract at Goodison Park expiring in the summer of 2027, Everton is committed to holding onto their standout defender.
Toffees may have to sell a few first-team players, though, given their financial situation, to prevent another infraction of the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules.
Everton is reportedly attempting to convince Branthwaite to remain with the team for at least one more season, and they would be willing to “sacrifice” highly sought-after midfield player Amadu Onana this summer, according to Football Insider.
The German powerhouse Bayern Munich is reportedly “very interested” in the 22-year-old, and other teams that have previously expressed interest include Barcelona, Manchester United, Arsenal, Newcastle United, and West Ham United.
Uncertainty surrounds Onana’s Everton
In the summer of 2022, Onana moved to Everton from Lille for a record £33.5 million. Since then, he has made 71 appearances for the team in all competitions, including 36 this season.
Nevertheless, under Sean Dyche, the Belgium international has lost his usual starting spot and has only started one of the Toffees’ previous four Premier League games.
With just 13 league games played since the beginning of the year, Onana has only played the entire 90 minutes four times. Although he still has almost three years left on his contract, interest in his services has led to talk of a possible big-money transfer.
The 6′ 4in defensive midfielder, who is reportedly worth £50 million to Everton, is rumored to be interested in joining a team that plays in Europe next season.
