Everton Jordan Pickford, the custodian, is furious over Key’s “lazy” accusations made against him after the team lost the Euro Final, and he believes that Key is attempting to harm his reputation.
In the seven years that Pickford has been with Everton and forced into the Premier League spotlight, many have attempted to criticise his actions.
And it was debatably justifiable at one time.
The £125,000-per-week player was far from safe at the back for a while since he was frequently prone to unpredictable fits of craziness that hurt his team. Though concerns about his dependability were justified, he has always been an outstanding shot-blocker.
But now that he has really overcome those errors and transformed into a laser-focused asset with a bursting personality, it is amazing how anyone can condemn a man who has been so perfect for club and country for such a long time.
England would not have been as successful as they have been and Everton would have undoubtedly been relegated without him. Pickford should be revered by the nation, but he is nevertheless burdened by these out-of-date perceptions of him. The claims made by Keys will only serve to enhance that foolish perception.
