Everton has extended an offer to Dominic Calvert-Lewin for a new deal in an effort to lock up the England international.

Calvert-Lewin’s current contract with Goodison Park is scheduled to expire in June 2025. As the ECHO previously reported, Calvert-Lewin is reportedly a possible target for Newcastle United, as former Everton player Eddie Howe looks to bolster his team in the summer.

The ECHO does, however, understand that negotiations between Dominic Calvert-Lewin, his agents, and the club are still ongoing despite the 27-year-old having received a new contract offer from the Blues.

The forward has struggled with injuries recently, but at the end of the current season, he was back to his best and helped Everton guarantee their spot in the Premier League for the following season.

His most famous goal came against Liverpool in the 2-0 Merseyside derby victory at Goodison. He was on target in four of his previous seven outings. Calvert-Lewin discussed the burden of leading the queue for the Blues in a speech earlier this month.

He stated: “There have been moments when I’ve been just as furious as them because I take such great pride in my role and wearing Everton’s No. 9 shirt. Since I experience the same highs and lows as everyone else, I don’t mind being upfront about that. I’m only a human.

However, I’ve grown up and gained enough experience to recognise that the criticism is coming from sincere sympathisers. Perhaps not as much when I was younger, and I would have taken it more personally, but experiences are necessary for perspective-gaining.

“Fans want to see themselves reflected on the pitch; they want to see players giving it their all and, in my case, scoring goals. People look to me to win games and create huge moments, so it’s part of the job. I adore that. That feeling that “he’s done the business for us” is something I adore. I thrive in situations where the question is, “Who is going to produce for us?”

The ECHO is also aware that Everton is currently not among the teams interested in signing Burnley’s Maxime Esteve. It comes after rumours surfaced in France that the Blues and the Turf Moor team had discussed a transfer for the 22-year-old defender.

Two other players who have recently been linked to moves to Merseyside are Ao Tanaka and Arthur Melo. However, the ECHO is aware that Everton is not currently interested in either midfielder.

However, the Blues are eager to get Kalvin Phillips to Goodison this summer, and club executives are considering the idea of signing the Manchester City midfielder on a loan basis, as the ECHO reported on Wednesday.
