Everton are poised to not have much to spend this summer, but for the fanbase, this has become commonplace.

After all, the Toffees’ financial situation has drastically declined over the last five years, largely due to Farhad Moshiri’s poor decisions at the top.

The Iranian immigrated to Merseyside in 2016 with an ambition, but it turned out that he didn’t have a strategy for realizing it. They are currently coping with the fallout from those horrible mistakes, which really showed its ugly head in the previous season.

They were in danger of slipping into the Championship for good after two different point deductions, but Sean Dyche and his determined team were not going to allow that to happen.

Kevin Thelwell has already listed the challenges he will confront in his attempt to bolster this already impressive collection of performers.

Everton want to sign Davinson Sanchez

A significant sale might be required to make some signings possible.

It’s absolutely unclear what Jarrad Branthwaite’s future at Everton will hold, but it also appears more likely that Amadu Onana will leave Goodison Park.

A report from CaughtOffside, however, has now revealed a possible replacement for the former, speculating that they would now try to sign former Tottenham Hotspur flop Davinson Sanchez.

Despite possibly having suffered during his previous Premier League tenure, the Colombian’s career has taken off after moving to Galatasaray, and he is currently valued at a reported €25 million (£21 million).

According to the statement, “Davinson Sanchez is a potential replacement for Everton center-back Jarrad Branthwaite, and Manchester United is interested in making a transfer move for him this summer.”

Everton have that Colombian connection

If Sanchez were to join Everton, it would be another addition to the team’s impressive list of former Colombian stars.

A key member of that group was Yerry Mina, whom the team signed in 2018 after purchasing him from Barcelona.

When healthy, the gregarious giant—who quickly won over supporters with his distinct demeanor—was among the team’s top defenders.

But the issue was that he was never.

Although James Rodriguez’s brief tenure was significantly more star-studded than Mina’s, he experienced a similar issue.

The world-class playmaker, brought in by Carlo Ancelotti, stunned everyone when he joined Everton and had a successful season.

The 32-year-old even encouraged Everton to sign Sanchez back in 2020. Now, maybe everything would come full circle.
