Manchester United have submitted a new bid worth £50million for Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite, talkSPORT understands.

But the Toffees have reject the bid of £45m up front plus £5m in add-ons for their young centre-back.

Everton is reportedly seeking £70 million for the 22-year-old defender from England.

Last month, Everton turned down the Red Devils’ initial £35 million offer.

The centre defender and Man United have agreed on personal terms, according to a report from talkSPORT last month.

Erik ten Hag, the Red Devils’ manager, is searching for defensive reinforcements after Raphael Varane left the team at the end of his contract.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the owner of Minority Man United, is adamant that the team will not overpay for players as it has in the past.

After an excellent season with Everton, the player was called up to Gareth Southgate’s initial 33-man England roster. However, he almost missed out on a spot at Euro 2024.

Although Branthwaite has also been linked to Real Madrid, Man United is believed to be his only real suitor.

Regarding Branthwaite, Everton teammate Ashley Young told talkSPORT, “He’s literally playing above his years.”

“He wants to play football; he doesn’t take no prisoners.

He is able to head it, tackle it, and devise a goal. He possesses every quality needed to be a fantastic centre half for many years.

At the age of 17, Branthwaite moved to Everton from his hometown club, Carlisle United, in January 2020.

He first committed to a two-and-a-half year contract with Goodison Park, but shortly after, it was extended by an additional year, ending in June 2023.

After spending time on loan at Blackburn and winning the KNVB Cup with PSV Eindhoven in the 2022–2023 season, Branthwaite signed a new contract with Everton in October 2023.

Branthwaite was a member of the England team that won the European Under-21 Championship the previous season, in addition to winning the Young Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year awards with Everton.
