Everton winger Stanley Mills is unlikely to return to training before the end of the season, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
According to the injury expert, the 20-year-old will miss the remainder of the season because of ligament damage to his knee.
The 20-year-old, who was on loan at Oxford, sustained the injury early in the month during an FA Cup match against Coventry. On January 8, the Toffees announced that the youthful winger had returned to Goodison Park for medical attention.
Speaking only to Goodison News, Brar, a sports scientist and physical therapy specialist, stated the following regarding Mills:
Without footage, it’s difficult to determine the precise extent of the injury, but he has some ligament damage to his knee, so his recuperation will take longer rather than quicker.
It doesn’t seem like he will be in training before the season and that he will need to utilize the summer to continue ramping up and recovering, based on some of the manager’s remarks.
“Making sure he’s receiving the best care possible will be our main priority right now, so a return to Everton makes sense.”
This season, in 21 League One games, the 20-year-old recorded seven assists and one goal.
In August 2022, he made his debut for Everton in an EFL Cup match against Fleetwood Town, winning 1-0. He has also made two senior appearances for the club.
