GOOD NEWS: FERRARI HAS DONE IT AGAIN

Ahead of the Spanish Grand Prix this weekend, Ferrari has unveiled a significant improvement package that it hopes will enable it to challenge Red Bull, another F1 opponent.

After experiencing its worst grand prix in two years in Canada two weeks ago due to an engine problem that forced teammate Carlos Sainz to withdraw and an accident involving Williams’ Alex Albon, the Scuderia is keen to recover.

However, the SF-24 was not competitive even before the race, maybe because the unusual Circuit Gilles Villeneuve was not suited for the vehicle.

Prior to the race in Montreal, the constructors’ title was very much in doubt, with 49 points separating them from Red Bull. However, after Max Verstappen’s 60th career Formula One victory, the Canadian city was left in the dust.

The car will have a modified engine cover, a redesigned floor to improve airflow, and a rear wing designed specifically for the course to handle the circuits with mid-to-high downforce during the race at Barcelona’s course de Catalunya. A new diffuser and halo are also included; the latter is intended to “improve the management of the losses traveling downstream.”

Red Bull modifies little while RB takes a major step

Red Bull has also released improvements, but they are mostly focused on cooling and are also unique to the Circuit de Catalunya.

The RB20 features updated sidepod inlets, an engine cover, and a floor body. Additionally, subtle modifications have been made to the beam wing and rear-wing endplate to improve local load performance.

While the beam wing has undergone modest modifications, sister team RB is also implementing a significant upgrade package that comprises a floor, engine cover, rear wing, and sidepod inlet.

All of the cars from Mercedes, McLaren, Alpine, and Williams are the same going into the weekend.

In order to “enhance the local interactions between the suspension fairings and the exterior duct to improve local load,” Aston Martin made improvements to the suspension and corner of the AMR24. In addition, the car’s back corner has undergone minor modifications.

Stake has slightly modified the front corner and rear wing, while the Haas has a little winglet on the rear impact structure.
