Breaking News: Hamilton has finally cleared the air on his planned exit.

For the first time since the announcement that completely flipped the Formula 1 world on its head, Lewis Hamilton has personally addressed Formula 1 fans.

The seven-time world champion will be leaving Mercedes after 12 seasons, during which he won six of his seven titles, to sign a lucrative contract with Ferrari.

The news that he would be leaving the paddock at the conclusion of the season to join the Scuderia, where he will attempt to become the first-ever Formula One driver to win an eighth world drivers’ championship, stunned the entire group.

Although, understandably, Hamilton has limited his communication to official channels since the seismic shift, he nevertheless took to Instagram on Tuesday night to thank supporters.

Since announcing his decision, Hamilton has gotten a ton of support from his adoring fans all across the world.

In his Instagram statement, the 39-year-old expressed his thanks for the first time since he decided to part ways with the Silver Arrows.

He wrote, “It’s been all love these past few days.” “I appreciate all of your support and energy; it means a lot.”

“I can’t wait to start this season,” he posted on social media, further reiterating his concentration on the upcoming campaign with Mercedes. We are all of us in 2024 🎯.”

After the seven-time champion announced his retirement from the team, Lewis Hamilton’s track engineer, Peter Bonnington, was confirmed to be in talks with Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff.

The British engineer, who goes by “Bono,” has been a part of Hamilton’s team since he joined Mercedes from McLaren in 2013.

Between 2013 and 2021, Bono led the 39-year-old to eight straight constructors’ crowns and six world championships throughout their time together.

The engineer also collaborated with Michael Schumacher on his 2010 comeback to the sport with Mercedes and with Jenson Button at Brawn for their 2009 championship victory.
