Packers: Among the Winners of the NFL in 2023
The 2023 NFL season’s winners and losers were selected by Sports Illustrated. Not unexpectedly, the Green Bay Packers were one of the victors.
Green Bay, Wisconsin: Gilberto Manzano of Sports Illustrated claims that the Green Bay Packers were among the NFL’s winners in 2023 after a pivotal season in which:
To usher in a new era and assist in clearing their salary cap, they dealt Aaron Rodgers to the New York Jets.
As part of the Rodgers trade, they also obtained a second-round pick (No. 41 overall) in the 2024 draft and the 42nd and 207th picks of the 2023 round, which were used on tight end Luke Musgrave and kicker Anders Carlson.
Jordan Love, one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL at the end of the season, took over as the offensive coordinator. According to Manzano, Love’s first season as the starter was exceptional.
With the aforementioned Musgrave and receiver Jayden Reed selected in the second round, tight end Tucker Kraft selected in the third round, and wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks selected in the fifth round, they selected four players that might make an immediate impact.
The stage is set for Green Bay’s offensive to be among the most dangerous in the NFL with the addition of Romeo Doubs, Christian Watson, and Bo Melton.
Manzano wrote: Love has the skill set to be a great quarterback for many years to come, but he will need to reduce his turnovers in crucial situations.
Green Bay is more intriguing because there are a lot of talented guys who can support Love. Huge props also go to coach Matt LaFleur, who demonstrated that he could succeed without Aaron Rodgers.
The Jets were one of eight losers, and the Packers were one of eight winners.
Rodgers tore his Achilles tendon on the first drive of the season, and the Jets’ season was over before it had gotten a few yards down the runway.
With youngster Sean Clifford serving as their backup quarterback, the Packers took a chance, but it paid off as Love survived 17 regular-season games and two postseason games without incident. Zach Wilson was the Jets’ dice roll, and the outcome was terrible.
Manzano stated, Even though everyone in that building knew Wilson wasn’t capable of doing the job, they chose not to add a strong backup because of how highly they drafted Wilson.
Going back to the winners, two of Green Bay’s NFC North opponents were on the list.
Coach Dan Campbell helped the Detroit Lions, who had been struggling for a long time, win two playoff games. Can they now qualify for back-to-back postseason games for the first time since their 1995, 1993, and 1994 wild-card round losses?
The Chicago Bears had their worst season in years and haven’t won a postseason game since 2010. However, they pulled off a major victory when they traded Carolina the first overall pick from last year’s draft for wide receiver D.J. Moore and a boatload of draft picks, including this year’s No. 1 pick.
Chicago has selected itself for position nine overall. The Bears might choose USC quarterback Caleb Williams by trading Justin Fields for a first-round selection.
