NFL announces date and time of the Packers vs. Bears regular season finale
GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – Following a tough 27-25 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, the Green Bay Packers now turn their attention to the Chicago Bears as they look to wrap up the regular season.
While Green Bay knew they’d be hosting the Bears in the regular season finale, it wasn’t until late Sunday night that they found out exactly when.
According to a post made on X just after 11:00 p.m., the NFL announced the time and dates for all of the Week 18 matchups with Green Bay and Chicago set to kickoff at Lambeau Field on Sunday, January 5, at noon.
In the first matchup of the year in what is the oldest rivalry in the NFL, the Packers escaped Chicago with a 20-19 win thanks to the finger of one Karl Brooks who blocked a potential game-winning field goal from Cairo Santos.
Heading into Week 18, the once 4-2 Chicago Bears find themselves on a 10-game losing streak and have lost 11 games in a row to Green Bay.
The Packers, who already clinched a playoff spot, will be looking to strengthen their seeding but will need some help in doing so. The loss Sunday to Minnesota, along with a Washington win on Sunday night, now has the Packers in the 7th seed eyeing a trip to Philadelphia.
In order to move out of the 7th seed and into the 6th seed, the Packers need to win over the Bears and would need for the Commanders to lose on the road to the Cowboys.
If Green Bay does become the 6th seed, that would set up a road playoff game in the Wildcard against either the Rams or the Buccaneers dependent upon how both of their respective week 18 matchups play out.
Regardless of the seeding, Green Bay will have a long road ahead of them if they’re looking to make a Super Bowl run as they’ll likely have to go through three tough opponents all on the road just to get there.
