Philadelphia Eagles Unveil Kelly Green Throwback Uniforms After Images Leak
Although they weren’t supposed to be revealed until Monday, the Philadelphia Eagles unveiled their Kelly green throwback uniforms on Saturday night after official images leaked online.
The Kelly green jerseys, which have the Eagles’ 1987–95 alternate logo on the sleeves and white block numbers outlined in black, are a fitting tribute to the Randall Cunningham era.
The outfits come with silver pants with a Kelly green and white striping pattern, white stockings with two Kelly green stripes, and Kelly green helmets with silver wings outlined in white and a silver facemask.
Since switching to midnight green in 1996, Philadelphia has only worn Kelly green throwback uniforms twice, the first being in the 2010 season opening against the Green Bay Packers.
Although the outfits can be worn up to three times this season, it is uncertain when they will be used. At their original scheduled unveiling on Monday at 9 a.m. ET, the Eagles will most likely confirm those dates.
“I am aware of how well we sell throwback apparel and jerseys,” stated Emily McNichol, director of merchandise. “I am excited to check that box with our supporters so they can finally have their fantasy of seeing Jalen Hurts in a throwback jersey come true.”
That being said, the Eagles join the Minnesota Vikings, New York Jets, Seattle Seahawks, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Tennessee Titans among the teams whose throwback uniforms will be unveiled for the last time in 2023.
Along with their 1946 throwback jerseys, the Cleveland Browns unveiled a new white helmet, and the Detroit Lions and Denver Broncos added a second lid to go with their Color Rush outfits.
The Arizona Cardinals have introduced a completely new set of uniforms for 2023, while the Indianapolis Colts have unveiled a new alternate outfit that incorporates an Anvil black helmet with blue jerseys and pants.
In closing, the Carolina Panthers implemented a few minor adjustments, such as changing their blue color, as part of their transition to Nike’s new Vapor F.U.S.E. pattern, which the majority of NFL teams will be wearing this season.
