After a dismal run of form that saw him win just one game in three months, Holger Rune is getting back on track.
The world No. 6 had a 1-6 record and has struggled to win any matches between his Wimbledon quarterfinal participation and this week’s Swiss Indoors. He was frequently attributed to his girlfriend for his lack of form.
However, Rune and his family have disregarded any claims that Caroline Donzella was the cause of his current decline.
After making it to the Wimbledon quarterfinals this year, Rune experienced a trying time. The world number six then lost in the opening rounds of the US Open in Shanghai, Canada, Cincinnati, and Stockholm. Before losing badly in Beijing, he did win one match.

Donzella, an Italian and Dutchman, is employed by a posh real estate firm in Monte Carlo. She has also been seen in the past encouraging Rune from his playing box. Donzella dated Italian football player Andrea Petagna, so this isn’t the first time she’s dated an athlete.
Rune and Donzella haven’t had it all easy, either, as the Dane and his group have had to refute rumors that his gorgeous girlfriend is to blame for his recent setbacks. “My poor performance is not Caroline’s fault,” the four-time champion recently told Expressen.
