Over the past four months, Rune has made a number of substantial changes to his coaching staff.
He began working with Boris Becker in October, while Severin Luthi was just recently joined to his staff.
Both Becker and Luthi have won major championships alongside elite players, Djokovic and Federer, respectively.
Rune said, “When I’m on the court, I always believe in myself.”
“I think I’m prepared to win a Grand Slam,” It wouldn’t happen, for sure, if I didn’t think I was prepared for it.
This week in Brisbane, Rune began his season by registering for both singles and doubles matches, where he partnered with former world No. 1 Andy Murray.

In their first encounter, the two lost in three sets, and Rune wishes he could have spent more time with Murray to perhaps learn from him.
He remarked, “To be honest, we didn’t have much time for it. I wish we had more time.”
We might be able to talk a little bit more if we had won a few games. But that’s the reality.

Rune gave the following explanation of how the collaboration came about: “I asked him about a month ago if he wants to play doubles here in Brisbane to gain some matches and prepare for the Australian Open.” It was enjoyable and he said yes.

It was excellent. We were unable to win, but I thought we played some excellent doubles and had a great time sharing the court with him.
Throughout the week, Rune hoped to pick up tips and tricks from the two-time Olympic gold champion.

Rune defeated Max Purcell in his Brisbane singles debut before defeating Alexander Shevchenko in three sets.
In the tournament’s quarterfinals, the eighth-ranked player in the world will take on James Duckworth as the top seed.
