Ipswich Town
On the last day of the Championship season, Kieran McKenna does not anticipate “smooth sailing” after Ipswich’s victory at Coventry put them one step closer to returning to the Premier League.
Haji Wright’s second-half equalizer for the Sky Blues cancelled out Kieffer Moore’s first goal, but minutes later, Cameron Burgess gave the visitors the lead again, putting Town in danger of promotion.
With the win, Ipswich will guarantee their first-ever return to the top flight since 2002 with a draw against all-but-relegated Huddersfield.
After Watford, rivals Norwich and Southampton, and Ipswich, they may become just the fourth team to be promoted consecutively from the third level to the Premier League since 1992.
McKenna stated: “We have a great chance to win games because of our preparation for games, concentration during games, and ability to show our identity on the field. I have a lot of faith in them and what we’ve done.”
“I have a lot of faith in it, but it’s just a football game between two teams from the same tier, one of which was in a lower division the previous year.
“Anything can happen; I don’t anticipate things going well. The game will undoubtedly be tense, just as when you’re battling for something, but our ability to stay on top of things will depend on how well we execute.”
