Before his battle with Jake Paul, Mike Tyson makes an unexpected career move that no one anticipated coming.
On July 20, Mike Tyson and Jake Paul will square off in the boxing ring.
Prior to his impending bout with Jake Paul, Mike Tyson made a significant announcement regarding his career.
In the main event of a show that will stream on Netflix, Tyson will return to the ring on July 20 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, to square off against Paul.
The 57-year-old former undisputed heavyweight champion has not competed since a tie with Roy Jones Jr. in an exhibition bout in 2020.
He was defeated in two rounds of action in his previous professional fight, which took place in 2005 against Kevin McBridge.
It is unknown at this time if his battle against Paul, 27, will follow professional regulations, be judged entirely professionally, or just be an exhibition match.
Opinions on Tyson’s choice to box again are split, with some boxing fans worried about the well-being of the former heavyweight champion.
Unfazed, Tyson has uploaded multiple videos of his training regimen in advance of the fight, appearing to be in excellent physical shape for a guy his age.
By announcing on Wednesday that his podcast, Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson, had ended, he appeared to be dedicating all of his attention to the bout. Watch the video below.
“These are my last recordings of HotBoxin’, ladies and gentlemen,” Tyson remarked.
“I had a great time traveling with this trip and getting to know everyone I met, especially the amazing folks I spoke with for interviews.
And this is the next chapter of my life as of right now. For my next project, kindly enjoy the following social media posts at Mike Tyson and MikeTyson.com. I cherish each and every one of you.”
On his podcast, Tyson had conversations with a number of well-known guests, such as Eminem, Joe Rogan, Tony Hawk, Dana White, Kevin Hart, and The Undertaker.
He will now give his next fight with Paul his whole attention.
WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury is among the many well-known figures who have already voiced their opinions about the contentious bout.
The self-styled “Gypsy King” has backed Tyson’s comeback to the game and refers to his matchup with Paul as a “fair contest.”
“I think it’s excellent for boxing,” he stated in an interview with The Stomping Ground.
“Mike Tyson is a legend that you have. Jake Paul is a boxer on YouTube that you have. With millions of views, millions of followers, and millions of eyes, he has completely changed the game since entering it. Good, awful, or neutral. He is hated by some and loved by others.
