The renowned Italian tennis player, Nicola Pietrangeli, believes that young compatriot Jannik Sinner has a bright future ahead of him and that he currently has no weaknesses.
The two-time French Open champion believes Sinner will surpass almost all of his accomplishments, but not his record for the most Davis Cup matches.
Sinner made tennis history last month when he won his first-ever major at the 2024 Australian Open, making him just the third Italian man to win a Grand Slam singles championship.
The Italian star battled past Daniil Medvedev in a five-set championship match after defeating tennis legend Novak Djokovic in a four-set semifinal.
Many analysts believe that the current world No. 4 will win many more Grand Slam titles than just one, considering him to be one of the most gifted players of his generation.
Pietrangeli is the first person to win a Grand Slam title and the only player from Italy to win several majors. He was the winner of the 1959 and 1960 French Opens.
Adriano Panatta, a former world No. 4 who competed from 1969 to 1983, became the second Italian to win a major championship when he won the French Open in 1976.
Pietrangeli competed in both amateur and professional tennis from 1953 to 1973, and he owns two impressive records: 120 rubbers won and 164 rubbers played in Davis Cup matches.
Pietrangeli, a 44-time singles event champion, commended Sinner, a 22-year-old rising star, for his victory at the Australian Open.
The achievements of Jannik Sinner go beyond sports. It brings joy to witness this youthful talent win a major tournament such as the Australian Open.
According to the Italian website Sportface, the 90-year-old said, “The future is bright for him, but it’s too early to determine what it will be.”
Sinner is incredible, but he’s not Batman. Although he doesn’t currently have any shortcomings, he can always improve. The others will try to overcome him now that he is full, which will make the fight harder.
But to beat my record, it will take him two lives. He’ll win almost all of them, but new regulations make it impossible to win the 164-match Davis Cup.
The Italian continued by stating that Italian tennis is currently the most popular sport in the world and that his nation is currently ruling the tennis world.”If Sinner wins the Davis Cup and he completes his first Grand Slam, what more could we want?
The tennis federation has been in chaos for 20 years, so while the girls have been achieving incredible things for years, we also need to recognize [Angelo] Binaghi for his extraordinary efforts. This tennis match is mostly the president’s fault.
