The former No. 1 in doubles and former Serena Williams coach called Alcaraz’s consistency a huge issue and asserted Sinner has fewer vulnerabilities than the Spaniard.
As the only active ATP players under the age of 28 to have won Grand Slam championships, Sinner and Alcaraz are recognized as the two best young talents in the men’s game.
Alcaraz has won two majors in his brief career to date, and after winning the US Open in 2022, he became the youngest player to be ranked No. 1 in the ATP world rankings.
The 20-year-old Spaniard’s most recent victory, a fantastic victory at the 2023 Wimbledon Championships in July, came after a more difficult time.
Following his All England Club triumph at the Cincinnati Masters in August, the world No. 2 advanced to his lone final.
Sinner has enjoyed the best run of his career and has reached a new level since the beginning of Alcaraz’s decline.
Sinner finished the previous year’s ATP Finals in Turin as the runner-up, won championships in Beijing and Toronto, and captained Italy to Davis Cup victory. Sinner had also advanced to the semifinals of Wimbledon.
Four of Sinner’s seven bouts with Alcaraz have been in victories, including the last two; their most recent clash took place in Beijing in October.
The Italian won the Australian Open last month to win his first major championship, and he also won the Rotterdam Open this month, showcasing his incredible form entering 2024.
With a winning run of 15 matches under his belt, the 22-year-old is ranked third in the world, which is a career best.
Tennis analyst and pundit Stubbs gave her reasoning for believing Sinner will have a stronger career than Alcaraz in an interview with Racquet’s Rennae Stubbs Tennis Podcast.

Alcaraz’s serve is his main weakness; it doesn’t result in enough free points for him. Jannik can serve really well. On some surfaces, I believe Alcaraz plays a touch too defensively.
