Jannik Sinner is not dwelling on his loss to Carlos Alcaraz last week, as he returns to Miami and pursues a third final at the event
This week in Miami, Jannik Sinner is primed to start another winning run. The No. 2 seed in the competition was defeated last week in the Indian Wells Masters semi-finals, ending his 19-match winning streak for the year.
The Italian, who has advanced to the final two of the previous three Miami Opens, isn’t moping over the setback though and is looking forward to the chance to win more matches there.
Prior to his first match in Miami on Wednesday, Sinner declared, “Happy to be back here.” Undoubtedly a fantastic location for tennis. I’m hoping to demonstrate some skillful tennis. A new week brings with it fresh possibilities. Watch what transpires.
“Every competition you attend presents a fresh chance. And now there’s another chance to demonstrate your skill in tennis.
After winning the Australian Open and Rotterdam Open to start the 2024 season, Sinner rose to the third rank in the world and advanced to the Indian Wells semifinals. But in a rematch of the semi-final from the previous year, Carlos Alcaraz triumphed 1-6, 6-3, 6-2 over Sinner.
“I wasn’t even considering the victories and defeats that occurred during the year. Regarding his defeat by Alcaraz, Sinner remarked, “I knew the point was going to come.” “I’m glad it arrived so late in the competition; that means a lot to me. A Masters 1000 semi-final is still an excellent accomplishment.
Sinner thinks he’s improved even more going into Miami this season. Unsettling indications, considering the Italian’s achievements in these three editions.
Notwithstanding the outcome, I’ve developed both personally and as a player. I was about 19 when I came here for the first time. It’s natural for you to evolve as a result of new experiences. I consider myself lucky to be able to perform on almost all major stages for the entire year.
“In terms of experience and all that, I’ve changed, but personally, I haven’t changed. Results won’t bring about a change in it. All I can say is that I’m glad to be here, and maybe this week I can deliver some strong tennis. We’ll see.
The Italian Andrea Vavassori, who defeated Pedro Cachin in straight sets in his first-round encounter, will face the world No. 3 in Miami to begin his campaign.
