Many in the league were taken aback when Eric Bieniemy, the former offensive coordinator for the Kansas City Chiefs, was fired by the Washington Commanders earlier this week. After spending several prosperous years in Kansas City, when he was considered for multiple head coaching positions, Bieniemy only played one season for Washington.

Speaking with reporters on Wednesday, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid discussed the situation involving his former offensive coordinator, Bieniemy, and disclosed that the team had a conversation with Bieniemy before to their AFC Championship victory over the Baltimore Ravens.

Prior to our most recent game, Reid stated, “He actually came in and spoke with our team. He talked to the offensive guys and hung out with us in our meetings.” I’ve had the opportunity to speak with him. He’s still open to working on a few projects. I currently don’t have any spots. However, I believe he has a bright future as a coach. I mean, it’s clear that I adore him and am aware of his abilities.

During his tenure in Kansas City, Bieniemy was well-known for his impassioned remarks of encouragement to his players. Bieniemy was there in Baltimore for that particular game. He established a strong foundation of responsibility in the facility with his stern, no-nonsense approach, which has helped the squad succeed over the last few seasons.
