Cincinnati —According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Chiefs intend to activate wide receiver Mecole Hardman prior to their game against the Bengals on Sunday.
He hasn’t played since November due to a sprained thumb. Kadarius Toney of Kansas City is already out of the game on Sunday because of a hip injury. Throughout the entire season, they have been erratic at wide receiver.
With the intention of adding some stability to the room, they traded for Hardman. On Sunday, he will have the opportunity to support Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes.
For the Chiefs’ encounter with the Bengals on Sunday, they will have some receiving support.
Mecole Hardman is expected to participate in Week 17 after Kansas City announced that the team reinstated him off injured reserve and removed his dubious classification.
Due to a thumb injury, Hardman has missed the last five games. Since being acquired from the Jets, he has played in four games for the Chiefs this season, hauling in eight receptions for 41 yards.
Given that Kadarius Toney is sidelined once more due to a hip injury and Skyy Moore is on injured reserve, Hardman may play a significant role in Kansas City’s offensive strategy on Sunday.
The Chiefs have removed defensive tackle Matt Dickerson from the 53-man roster in retaliation.
Defensive end Mike Pennell and running back Keaontay Ingram have also been promoted from the practice squad to the active roster for Sunday by Kansas City. With Jerick McKinnon on injured reserve, running backs Isiah Pacheco (concussion/shoulder) and Clyde Edwards-Helaire (sickness) are also doubtful.
Entering this game, the Bengals have an 8-7 record. They have to win in order to keep their chances of qualifying for the postseason.
