Screenshots obtained by DailyMail.com reveal that Ms. Burnside requested money to assist in covering Mr. Mays’ medical expenses, identifying herself as his parent. Ms. Burnside stated that her son was in the intensive care unit getting better from the bullet wounds he had received during the parade when GoFundMe was launched.

According to the publication, the GoFundMe page states that he is fighting for his life in the intensive care unit after undergoing multiple surgeries, including going to the Chiefs Super Bowl celebration with his elder sister.

The Independent tried to get in touch with Ms. Burnside using details from public sources and reached out to GoFundMe for a response.

Prosecutors in Jackson County, Missouri, have charged Mr. Mays with second-degree murder, unauthorized use of a firearm, and two counts of armed criminal action. As a result, he is currently being held on a $1 million bond.

Court records state that Mr. Mays got into an argument verbally with several people during the procession, which is what started the shooting.

Prosecutor Jean Peters-Baker stated during a press briefing on Tuesday that officials think Mr. Mays had no prior interactions with these individuals. Ms. Peters-Bakers stated that Mr. Mays was the first to draw his gun, and others swiftly followed. He was hurt in the event after being shot.

During the altercation, Mr. Miller informed authorities that he had fired four or five times after someone had pointed a firearm at him.

A bullet found during Ms. Lopez-Galvan’s autopsy was identified by ballistic comparison as having come from Mr. Miller’s gun.
