An anonymous source claims that Los Angeles Lakers team officials may have already given up on the current campaign.
The Lakers, who presently sit ninth in the Western Conference with a lackluster 37-32 record, have not had a great season.
The Duquesne basketball team is left speechless by a unique present from LeBron James.
With that record, they will probably have to win two play-in games in order to go to the postseason, where they would probably face the top seed in the West, which means an early exit is likely.
While supporters had high hopes for a major move to open the team’s 2024 season, nothing close to that kind of deal materialized, and the trade deadline passed with little to cheer about.
Supporters have questioned the front office’s lack of desire, and Antony Irwin, an insider, may have offered the explanation.
“Some within the organization have even indicated that, following [Jarred Vanderbilt’s] injury, which they assumed to be season-ending at the time, the Lakers felt this season was beyond redemption,” he wrote.
The Lakers’ predicament
In theory, it might not be completely absurd for the Lakers to end the season without making a significant deal.
They might do better to wait it out and set themselves up for a stronger run in the upcoming year or two if they believe a deal won’t be enough to make them championship contenders.
The issue with it is that LeBron James, who is currently 39 years old, is involved.
James, a player of a generation, will be disappointed that the Lakers are prepared to give up when their star player is at the height of his winning potential. James will want to excel in his later years.
