head coach of las vegas raiders Antonio Pierce fired one of player due to.
For the foreseeable future, every interim head coach will find inspiration in the narrative of Antonio Pierce.
He has been formally named the head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders, the organization announced on social media on Friday.
It verified several media stories about the agreement.
You have an opportunity to make an impression if you get to coach an NFL club for a portion of the season, and Pierce did just that.
The Raiders took notice of him, and Pierce was hired as permanent coach after an impressive half-season as an interim coach.
This season, Pierce was a 5-4 interim coach, and fans were calling for team owner Mark Davis to hire him.
Raiders legends returned to campaign for him, and players like Davante Adams and Maxx Crosby also threw their support behind him. Pierce gave the team new life and appeared to alter the organizational culture.
Hiring him carries some risk, but in the end, Davis had to acknowledge the overwhelming support for Pierce to take over as head coach full-time.
When the Raiders faced a similar circumstance previously, Rich Bisaccia served as an interim coach and guided the team to the postseason at the conclusion of the 2021 year.
Josh McDaniels, who had a terrible tenure as Raiders head coach, was hired by Davis after he disregarded that run.
Pierce had a chance to take the lead when McDaniels was removed. He had been a head coach at Long Beach Poly, but it was at the high school level.
Pierce then worked as a defensive assistant at Arizona State for four years. Prior to this past season, he has only coached linebackers for one full season in the NFL. That’s not how an NFL coach typically looks at a resume.
However, Pierce was respected by his teammates. He played linebacker with the New York Giants and Washington Commanders for nine seasons, winning a Super Bowl with the Giants.
The Raiders players responded well to his approach, and by the end of the season, they were requesting that Pierce be given a full-time job.
Before the team’s regular-season finale, Adams told reporters, “It’s plainly who I wanted, and he’s my vote. I’ve been outspoken about it, and for good reason—that’s essentially how the entire locker room feels. He arrived and performed admirably.
He hasn’t stopped winning us over. Not only is it more comfortable, but I believe this organization would benefit from having AP here. He personifies the essence of being a Raider. I believe in all of the things that he supports, including that mindset and that swag. Undoubtedly, [I’m] supporting him.”
In the latter part of the season, the Raiders were more competitive, which may speak more highly about McDaniels than Pierce. Nevertheless, Pierce performed admirably given the roster’s many deficiencies, particularly at quarterback.
Yahoo Sports’ Jori Epstein and Charles Robinson polled six coaches and front-office executives, and the results showed that, as of Friday, the group had ranked the Raiders’ job opportunity as the fifth-best of the seven openings in the league.
“You’re lacking a quarterback. One coach who was surveyed remarked, “You’re not really picking one where you want to.
The squad lacks talent, especially when it comes to the men on offense—I’m not sure if you really want Josh Jacobs and Davante back. On the defensive, you have Maxx. However, there isn’t much left after that either.
The Oakland Raiders defeated the Los Angeles Chargers, Kansas City Chiefs, and Denver Broncos in their final four games of the season, sweeping all three of their division opponents.
The Raiders’ victory at Arrowhead Stadium over the Chiefs on Christmas Eve was just their second victory there since 2012.
Las Vegas still needs to address a few additional problems in addition to the quarterback dilemma. However, they have a coach. Many Raiders players and supporters will be pleased with the choice.
