A former highly regarded Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver made headlines on Monday due to a recent run-in with the law. 2020 first-round pick Adam Arnette was detained and charged last month for “possession of less than a gram of meth and unlawful carrying of a firearm,” according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. At 3:30 am, someone was arrested in Richardson, Texas.

Damon Arnette issues with the Law

Arnette has experienced legal troubles before, as reported by the Ohio State Buckeyes on Monday, and this is not the first time. Arnette’s legal issues started in 2021 after he was named as a suspect in a hit-and-run accident that happened the year before. That same year, a video appeared on social media showing Arnette pointing a gun at people and threatening them to death. Shortly after, he was cut by the Las Vegas Raiders, ending his brief two-year career with the team.

“Charges of assault with a deadly weapon, carrying a concealed weapon without a permit, and two counts of possession of controlled substances” led to the arrest of the Texas native in 2022. Arnette accepted a plea agreement that spared her from jail time in exchange for 50 hours of community service and a $2,000 fine. Later that year, he was taken into custody once more and accused of “driving on a suspended license, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a controlled substance.”

Las Vegas Raiders: unlucky Damon Arnette

Before his legal troubles and ultimate discharge, Arnette was a member of the Raiders for just two seasons. In nine games as a rookie, the former second-team Big Ten cornerback recorded 25 tackles, one TFL, and two passes defended. The next season, he made four appearances and recorded four tackles along with a PBU. In the same year, he was cut by the Raiders. Not long after, he signed with the Miami Dolphins, though he was never added to the active roster. In 2022, he signed a one-week reserve/future deal with the Kansas City Chiefs.

During his four years as a collegiate player at Ohio State, Arnette recorded five interceptions. During his time with the Buckeyes, he also recorded 140 tackles, 22 passes defended, two forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery.
