Just in: Las Vegas Raiders star Maxx Crosby is going to miss the rest of the season due to terrible ankle…

The Las Vegas Raiders have struggled mightily during the 2024 season, and now the team has lost two of its stars. Defensive end Maxx Crosby and running back Sincere McCormick have both been placed on injured reserve, ending both of their 2024 seasons.

Crosby suffered an ankle injury in Week 2, that was aggravated in Week 14. Due to the aggravation, he has now been placed on IR.

“As much as this pains me to write, I will not be playing the rest of the season,” Crosby. “Second time this year getting rolled up on the same ankle and now it will require surgery. As much as it pains me to not go to war with my brothers and for the fans, I truly believe everything happens for a reason. I have absolutely zero regrets with my process, my approach and my discipline to this game.

McCormick also suffered an ankle injury that will not sidelined him for the rest of 2024. Despite there being three games left, McCormick will have to heal up and prepare for 2025.

Crosby secured 7.5 sacks and 45 total tackles in 2024. This is far less production than in 2023 when he secured 14.5 sacks.

It could be that the ankle injury Crosby suffered early on in the season had been affecting him until it finally gave way in Week 14. Now, the star defensive end will have to prepare for the 2025 season.

McCormick secured 183 yards through five games, and a 4.7 yards per carry average. His most successful game in limited take came during Week 14 when he picked up 78 yards on the ground.

The Raiders have had bad luck all season. The team got off to a rough start, leading to offensive coordinator Luke Getsy, offensive line coach James Cregg, and quarterbacks coach Rich Scangarello being let go early on this season.

Head coach Antonio Pierce was retained but is likely on the hot seat leading to the end of the season. The Raiders are currently 2-12 on the season and are facing a reality where they end up with the top pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Things have gone from bad to worse, and with Crosby and McCormick sidelined for the rest of 2024 — there is far less star power on both sides of the ball. Time will tell if the Raiders can put together some wins to end their season, but they might end up being able to take Shadeur Sanders come April.
