The Las Vegas Raiders have selected LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels in the NFL Draft.

LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels is a Las Vegas Raiders NFL Draft pick.

The NFL Scouting Combine is now over, and the free agency period will soon begin. The Las Vegas Raiders still have a severe quarterback need.

Aidan O’Connell is the sole quarterback on the roster since Jimmy Garoppolo, Josh McDaniels’ hand-picked starting quarterback, is set to be fired in the upcoming weeks following a disastrous stint.

AOC was not expected to play as a rookie after being selected in the fourth round of last year’s draft. However, after a strong preseason performance and Garoppolo’s injury, he was given the starting job early on by Antonio Pierce, who later announced it after McDaniels was fired.

All things considered, O’Connell performed admirably for a fourth-round pick who was put in a difficult situation with Bo Hardagree, the team’s initial playcaller, and helped the Raiders finish with a 5-4 record.

Even yet, O’Connell demonstrated a lot of the qualities that initially made him a day three pick—namely, that his total arm talent is inferior to that of the NFL’s top starters and that he projects to be a long-term backup.

Fortunately, there are a ton of quarterback options available to the Raiders and their new front staff in both the draft and free agency this off-season. One of them is Jayden Daniels of LSU, a player that head coach Antonio Pierce is quite familiar with.
