Exclusive: After being named the NFL player of the week, Raiders now regret making the $180M Kirk Cousins mistake as it continues to hunt them, following QB struggles……

The Las Vegas Raiders were reportedly among the teams interested in former Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins during the offseason. However, the Atlanta Falcons outbid them with a $180 million offer, prompting the Raiders to instead sign Gardner Minshew II from the Indianapolis Colts and pair him with Aidan O’Connell for the season. This decision is said to have influenced star receiver Davante Adams’ trade request, as the Raiders currently sit at 2-5, facing yet another losing season.

However, Las Vegas may have another shot at Cousins as early as next year. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler recently predicted that, despite his four-year contract with Atlanta, Cousins could be available on the trade market next spring.

“If we’re looking beyond the obvious trade options and considering unexpected candidates, Kirk Cousins from Atlanta tops the list,” wrote ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler on Oct. 23. “The Falcons are quite satisfied with Cousins, who ranks third in the NFL with 1,830 passing yards. However, based on feedback from league sources, most don’t believe the Falcons will keep Michael Penix Jr. on the bench for long.”Atlanta’s decision to draft Penix in the top 10 just two months after signing Cousins surprised many, including Cousins himself. With Penix now in the mix, Cousins could become a valuable trade asset, potentially attracting interest from the Raiders, depending on their 2025 draft position and the availability of other quarterbacks.Top QB prospects like Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders or Miami’s Cam Ward could be worth a high draft pick, though they may need some development time. The Raiders, who have been in search of a solid quarterback for several seasons, could trade a third-round pick to Atlanta for Cousins, covering his salary while drafting a QB they can develop to start in the future.
