Raiders’ Wilkins Excited to Get to Work With Crosby
The Las Vegas Raiders defensive line, which will include edge rusher Maxx Crosby and defensive tackle Christian Wilkins, two of the league’s most disruptive defensive lineman, generated a lot of buzz in the football world. And with good reason.
Wilkins, who formally joined the Raiders on Thursday, finds the concept quite intriguing as well.
At his opening news conference on Thursday, Wilkins stated, “We [Wilkins and Crosby] definitely talked a little bit just about the possibilities and things we can do, but it’s going to have to be created.” “It’s undoubtedly a journey and a process. Simply getting to know one another better will have to be the first step.
And once more, it will take a team effort—not just us. To make this thing function and do good things here, all eleven players will need to be on defense at all times. That being said, I’m merely excited about the possibilities and happy to be a single component of the jigsaw.
I’m only a small component, and I’m happy to be a part of it; no man is better than the other.
When Wilkins was a member of the Miami Dolphins, he was the center of attention up front for opposing offensive lines. He will now benefit from being able to line up next to Crosby, who also needs a lot of attention.
Wilkins remarked, “Well, that’s kind of left to be seen, but just the possibilities—there are just so many.” But as I mentioned earlier, in order to go past the other guys on the defense and the other D-linemen, we’re going to need to put in the effort and develop a rapport. This defense has a lot of individuals on it, including linebackers and secondary players, so it will be collaborative work.
“Obviously, I’m eager to play with Maxx [Crosby], who is a huge one. And as I mentioned, I’m simply excited to be a part of this.”
The NFL Draft is scheduled for April 25–27, 2024, in Detroit, Michigan. With the 13th overall pick right now, it belongs to the Las Vegas Raiders.
