Jackie Young, a two-time WNBA champion, has signed a contract extension with the Las Vegas Aces, according to a statement made today by general manager Natalie Williams.
Williams declared, “One of the most dynamic shooting guards in the world and a force to be reckoned with in the WNBA is Jackie Young.” “We made signing Jackie to an extension until 2025 a top priority. Given Jackie’s development, I think she has a chance to win MVP this year.
Young, the 2019 Aces No. 1 Draft pick, is a fourth-year player in the league. She was selected to the 2023 All-WNBA Second Team and won the 2022 WNBA Most Improved Player Award.
Young won two WNBA Championships during her five years in an Aces uniform, and she was selected an All-Star in each of the last two seasons. Young has started 140 out of 162 games and averaged 13.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game. He also shot 84.8% from the free throw line, 41.2% from beyond the arc, and 47.5% from the field.
The Aces’ season opens at 7 p.m. on May 14 at Michelob ULTRA Arena versus Phoenix. The team will play a preseason game against Puerto Rico on May 11 in South Carolina. The Aces will get their 2023 WNBA Championship rings and display their championship banner in Michelob ULTRA Arena prior to the game, so fans are advised to arrive early.
