The Las Vegas Raiders have officially added Caleb Williams, a veteran quarterback from USC.

The last two seasons ended with losing records for the Las Vegas Raiders; however, drafting a young franchise quarterback like Caleb Williams might change the team’s fortunes.

There are several players in this year’s NFL Draft class that could be able to step in as a “savior,” but the Las Vegas Raiders don’t necessarily need one to get back to where they want to be.Whichever team signs USC quarterback and 2022 Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams will have that expectation.

In 2022, Williams signed on with a USC squad that had finished 4-8 the previous year. In 2022, he would contribute to their turnaround into an 11-3 squad that would make it to the Pac-12 championship game.

Sadly for him, USC’s 8-5 season last year meant that his success was short-lived.

When Williams addressed the media on Friday at the NFL Combine, he stated, “This was one of the seasons that — it’s none like any other season I’ve had to where I’ve been so close to being neutral or near to having a losing record, so it was challenging for me.

“As I mentioned before, I enjoy winning and am a competitor, so coming dangerously close to losing was tough for me. Fortunately, I had support to help me process my emotions and identify what was going on inside of me.

Since nobody is at the first point of the draft, which would be early in the draft, and because I expect myself to go high, I believe it’s crucial to know this heading into a situation.

“The teams will be—at least from the previous year—kind of going to be like I got into USC when they were 4-8 and things like that. To be a 12-and-whatever squad.” Just getting ready for those occasions, of which last year was, in my opinion, the ideal illustration.”

Williams did not make any of the 2023 All-American teams selected by the Associated Press.

The NFL Draft is scheduled for April 25–27, 2024, in Detroit, Michigan. The No. 13 overall pick is presently in the hands of the Las Vegas Raiders.
