On Thursday night, D’Angelo Russell extended his recent hot streak as the Los Angeles Lakers upset the Chicago Bulls 141-132.

Russell blasted a season-high eight three-pointers, five of which came in the third quarter alone, to go along with his 29 points and four assists. Now, five of the 27-year-old’s last seven games have seen him score more than 25 points.

After missing just one game because of a bothersome ankle injury, LeBron James made his way back into the starting lineup against Chicago, but he didn’t exhibit any symptoms of rust. James put up a performance that included 25 points, four rebounds, and 12 assists on the night. It was formally confirmed that he would be joining his 20th All-Star team.

The Lakers made 20 out of 31 three-point tries, demonstrating that every player on the team was explosive from beyond the arc. Los Angeles has shown caution with handling the ball as well, with 35 assists against only 12 mistakes. Russell, in particular, won over the fans with his consistent excellence in the starting lineup.

Following the win, Los Angeles has now alternated between victories and losses in five straight games, dropping them to 23-23. The club, led by head coach Darvin Ham, has a demanding schedule coming up, starting on Saturday with a six-game road trip.
