In Paris, Lydia Ko is moving things along. The 27-year-old Kiwi has pushed herself into contention halfway through the competition at Le Golf National, and she needs a gold medal to finish her Olympic set. With a win this week, Ko would earn her 27th point and be inducted into the LPGA Hall of Fame, the most prestigious hall in sports.
After eight years, Ko would be the first player to qualify since Inbee Park.
Players must have won or received at least one of the following honors to be eligible for the LPGA Hall of Fame: Rolex Player of the Year, Vare Trophy for lowest scoring average, or LPGA major.

Every LPGA-sanctioned tournament victory is worth one point.
One point is awarded for each Vare Trophy or Rolex Player of the Year title won, and two points are awarded for winning an LPGA major tournament.
As of two years ago, an Olympic gold medal was also worth one point.

Regretfully, Thompson was unable to represent her nation at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris during her final year of competition. The LPGA pro has already participated in the quadrennial event twice before, representing the Stars and Stripes in 2016 and 2020, respectively, although he had no real influence on either occasion.
Her rating has plummeted to 39 this year, making her ineligible for the Women’s Olympic Golf Championship, which is open to only the top 15 women on the LPGA Tour. However, the celebrity doesn’t appear to care because she is having a blast on her days off from the course!
