Much of the focus during the past month has been on head coach Darvin Ham of the Los Angeles Lakers as they have struggled. A allegation of a rift between him and the Lakers players surfaced, and many questioned his frequent changes in lineups and rotations.
Some are now speculating as to how long Ham will last, and there have even been whispers of possible successors in the event that he is let go. Ham doesn’t feel like he is coaching for his job, though, in spite of everything.
Prior to the Lakers’ game against the Los Angeles Clippers, Ham stated, “No, I don’t.” “Being a coach in this industry comes with the territory, and I feel like I’m coaching a hell of a franchise.” I’ve watched many coaches come and go—some who were excellent, some who were surrounded by unfavorable situations. Nevertheless, I don’t feel that way at all.
It is undeniable that coaches face immense pressure, particularly when they are in charge of a team with the same history as the Lakers. Although Ham acknowledged that he is under extra pressure to help the Lakers win the game, he still wants to maintain a pleasant environment inside the club.
Without a doubt. The Lakers coach said, “You look at different numbers and different ways.” In order to try to turn things around, I believe it’s more important to ask more of yourself, do more, and try to notice every tiny detail. It’s not so much about putting pressure on yourself. But simultaneously maintaining a cheerful attitude and keeping things in perspective.
“Not the outdated, ‘Woe is me’ attitude that I project upon my team, employees, and myself. Simply attempting to work tirelessly to seize the chance that is presented to us.
Being the head coach of the Lakers is a difficult position, especially with the star power of Anthony Davis and LeBron James. Despite the extreme pressure and scrutiny that come with the position, Ham accepts it all and keeps his eyes on the prize despite all of the obstacles.
Nobody, in Ham’s opinion, “sets out to fail.” “And things you say get taken out of context, but basically what I’m saying is that, if there’s one thing we learned from the previous year, it’s that this process takes time, right? And I don’t hide from the fact that we are the Lakers—I embrace it. I give it my all. And all I want is for us to succeed. And being excellent in the moment takes time.
.
“The greatest team in the league, this one has been fantastic. Additionally, the effort we put forth must result in something, and occasionally there may be obstacles along the way. However, the culmination of all we do in the short term and reaching the grand scheme is a process. Thus, you will experience some peaks and some valleys. Our goal is to become more formidable as the season progresses.
Ham has demonstrated that he is capable of guiding the Lakers to victory despite those setbacks. He will now need to do it once more in order to turn this season around and help the team reach its early-season title objective.
Darvin Ham: Lakers can’t get complacent after win over Clippers
The Lakers should ideally be able to resume that journey after defeating the Clippers to end their four-game losing run. However, Ham advised against the team becoming overly complacent following just one win.
When asked if it was a relief to win, Ham replied, “Definitely.” But we are unable to be at ease. We cannot get too cozy. There is still much work for us to do. This was an enormous victory. Once more, against a prestigious ballclub, but it demonstrates what we can accomplish when we come together and everyone truly concentrates on the tasks at hand, both individually and collectively.
“Everyone, including the players, coaches, and performance team. Thus, I’m hoping that this kind of performance will carry over into the upcoming games and beyond until the conclusion of the season.
