It’s officially OTA season because the NFL draft is over, the schedule is available, and the Rams have a full roster. OTAs, which start on Monday, will mark the start of Los Angeles’ next part of the offseason program. During these drills, the club will be able to practice 7-on-7, 9-on-9, and 11-on-11 formats without the use of pads or full contact.

As veterans acclimate to their new teams and newcomers find their footing, it’s a crucial period in the offseason. Coaches should also start implementing their methods now that Chris Shula has taken over as defensive coordinator.

Stetson Bennett’s participation and progress

Although Matthew Stafford took part in the final round of offseason workouts, it is unlikely that he will miss this round of OTAs in his pursuit of an amended contract with the Rams. Fans will probably focus on Bennett instead of fretting about his participation because he has also been present for the start of the offseason program.

Bennett is vying with Stafford and Jimmy Garoppolo for the position of third quarterback for the Rams. If Garoppolo is suspended for the first two weeks of the season, Bennett may be needed. Bennett’s involvement and whatever progress he’s made heading into Year 2 will probably be updated by Sean McVay, which should be positive since many have been wondering about him since he was placed on the non-football illness list last September.
