Rams
The Los Angeles Rams began their first organized team activity (OTA) day on Monday. They were one of 21 teams to kick things off, and it looks like every member of the team—including quarterback Matthew Stafford of the Rams, who won the Super Bowl—was present.
An image of Stafford was shared on social media by the Rams.
According to reports, Stafford is looking for a new deal this summer. Given Stafford’s desire for more guaranteed money, Rams head coach Sean McVay expressed doubts about whether Stafford would report to OTAs.
Stafford, though, arrived like the pro that he is and displayed professionalism. Although his attendance is encouraging, it doesn’t necessarily mean he’s content with the situation. Before 2024, the majority of the 36-year-old’s base pay are not guaranteed. The two-time Pro Bowler is battling for a new deal because he wants to make sure he’s covered after this season. Whether the two parties will reach a contract agreement is still up in the air. But as the Rams get closer to a crucial 2024 season, this could become problematic if it persists.
Before the season, there are a number of questions about the Rams, but none of them are related to offense. All of that might alter, though. The L.A. sirens will be sounding if Stafford is absent for whatever reason.
The Rams and McVay do not want to live through that gloomy timeline.
