Despite his incredible 2023 season, Kobie Turner was not awarded Defensive Rookie of the Year. He led all NFL rookies in sacks and even tied Aaron Donald’s team record for the most sacks in a player’s debut season. He really placed third in the race, behind Jalen Carter and Will Anderson Jr., the winner.
Although Turner had the strongest case of any defensive rookie statistically, voters chose C.J. Stroud over Puka Nacua, giving the Texans the sweep in the Rookie of the Year category.
Turner posted a three-word statement on social media following Anderson’s acceptance of the award: “Back to work.”
