Tight end Tyler Higbee has announced his retirement from the………..

The Los Angeles Rams’ best tight end, Tyler Higbee, suffered an ACL tear during their heartbreaking playoff loss to the Detroit Lions the year before.

There was also anticipation, due to the timing of the injury, that Higbee would miss a large chunk of the upcoming campaign to recover.

Rams head coach Sean McVay explained to the media at the NFL Owners Meetings the current state of affairs with his starting tight end, Higbee. He rehabilitated Higbee’s likely addition to the PUP list upon the start of training camp.

With this designation, Higbee might still play in Week 1, although it is unlikely considering the severity and timing of the injury.

The Cleveland Clinic states that following surgery, rehabilitation from ACL damage usually takes six to nine months. On January 14, Higbee suffered the injury.

Fortunately, Davis Allen, a second-year player who had an amazing season finale, gives Los Angeles a lot of depth at the tight end position. Although Allen only managed two receptions for 28 yards in the playoff defeat to Detroit, he concluded his rookie season with 10 receptions for 95 yards and a touchdown in the regular season. It took Allen until November 26 to make his first catch.

Also signed by the Rams is Colby Parkinson, a fifth-year NFL tight end and former Seahawk. Parkinson took part in 54 games, four of which he started.
