Regarding the tragically simultaneous deaths of Mariah Carey’s sister and mother, further information has surfaced.
Although the exact causes of death remain unknown, mother Patricia Carey, 87, and sister Alison Carey, 63, are reported to have passed away on the same day.
“Alison was on home hospice care for the last three weeks of her life,” caretaker Dave Baker said to The US Sun.
“Under a tough veneer, Alison was a warm, compassionate, and extremely clever individual.
“I’ve known her for nine years, and I shall miss her terribly as her friend and caregiver in recent months.
“Goodbye, Alison. May you now experience serenity and be released from the agony of this world for all time.
Additionally, Mr. Baker stated that Alison “had a difficulty with internal organs.”
In a statement to People magazine, Carey confirmed the deaths and said, “My heart is devastated that I’ve lost my mother this past weekend.”
Sadly, my sister passed away on the same day due to a tragic turn of events.
“I consider myself fortunate to have had the final week with my mother before she died away.
“During this impossible time, I appreciate everyone’s love, support, and respect for my privacy.”
When Carey was three years old, her parents, Patricia and Alfred, divorced.
The pop diva discussed her mother’s “difficult” relationship in her biography, The Meaning Of Mariah Carey, published in 2020.
Carey did stay in touch with her mother, who trained as an opera singer, and in 2010 they recorded a joyful duet of O Come All Ye Faithful and Hallelujah Chorus.
“And to Pat, my mother, who, through it all, I do believe genuinely did the best she could,” she said in her memoir’s dedication. I shall always love you to the best of my ability.
Carey seems to have a complicated relationship with his sister Alison.
“Emotionally and physically safer for me not to have any contact” with Alison or her brother Morgan, she wrote in her memoir.
