JUST IN: Following a “toxic atmosphere,” Max Verstappen compelled a teammate to resign.

When asked about his future, Verstappen was eager to clarify that he was still under contract in Australia. However, rumors of an internal power struggle have put the careers of Verstappen, Horner, senior advisor Helmut Marko, and chief technical officer Adrian Newey in jeopardy.

Crucially, Verstappen’s amended contract now has a secret break provision that Marko allegedly included, allowing him to leave before 2028. Mercedes and Aston Martin were able to move forward with their interest as a result, but the 26-year-old has downplayed his likelihood of departing.

Verstappen declared, “I think there’s every reason to be delighted,” while in Melbourne. The automobile is operating pretty smoothly. The team is made up of so many amazing individuals that never stop pushing for improved outcomes.

That is my main concern. I’m happy and concentrate on the performance; until I get home, my mind is largely fixed and I don’t think about anything else. Additionally, that’s where I wish to be.

Verstappen, on the other hand, will be less pleased with the way his car performed in Australia. The team is currently looking into a right rear brake problem that caused him to retire early for the first race in two years.

And until important players in the Red Bull management are clarified, speculation about Verstappen’s future will not end.

The rumours surrounding his manager’s meeting with the Thai owners of the team are only fueled, and Mercedes and Aston Martin will be encouraged to press on with their efforts to sign Verstappen.
