Formula 1 analyst David Croft of Sky Sports believes that Max Verstappen may leave the team before he even finishes his current Red Bull contract.
Furthermore, the Dutchman has acknowledged that he may be exploring other interests after this F1 contract ends. At the conclusion of the 2028 season, when he will just be 31 years old and still very much in the peak of his career, it expires.
However, Verstappen’s future is questionable as a result of Red Bull’s internal conflict.Toto Wolff is attempting to take advantage of this and persuades the three-time world champion to join Mercedes; Lawrence Stroll, the aspirational billionaire owner of Aston Martin, is also showing interest.
Verstappen claims that at this time, he is not thinking about quitting Red Bull. In addition, the 26-year-old acknowledged to reporters at Suzuka ahead of this weekend’s Japanese Grand Prix that he is unsure if he wants to stay in Formula One once his current contract ends.
“I’m really content where I am right now, and we want to keep it that way,” he stated. My contract with Red Bull expires in2028, and I want to take some time to consider whether I really want to remain with it. That’s what matters most to me—where isn’t as significant as that. I don’t really think about things like this right now.”
Wolff has not hidden his intention to persuade Verstappen to join his squad. Additionally, Sebastian Vettel, a triple world champion, has been connected to a Mercedes move after acknowledging that he had considered going back into Formula One.
Commentator Croft of Sky assessed the scenario and stated that he would be more shocked if Verstappen moved to the Silver Arrows than if the Dutchman decided to give up on the sport entirely. “Is Max Verstappen going to grab the position at Mercedes first?” the man questioned. No, I truly don’t think so.
