The police have been contacted by Mercedes to look into the source of the email that claims they are “sabotaging” Lewis Hamilton.
The correspondence’s source was hidden under a fictitious email address that used a name disparaging George Russell, a teammate of Hamilton’s who the source claims is being favored by team principal Toto Wolff.
After their own research was unable to locate the IP address, Mercedes announced on Friday afternoon that they had reported the issue to an unidentified police force.
The group maintains that the letter was written by a Hamilton admirer, not an employee, as the mystery writer suggests. According to the source, Wolff is “scorned” that the seven-time world champion will be racing for Ferrari in the upcoming season.
On Thursday, Hamilton argued that he was not aware of the letter that was sent to all of the sport’s high rollers and journalists who had previously been copied into the leak of Red Bull CEO Christian Horner’s conversations with a female employee in March. The letter was dated June 10, the day after the Canadian Grand Prix, in which Hamilton finished fourth, one spot behind Russell.
Although it is thought that the email addresses contacted may be accessible elsewhere, the fact that the recipients were the same would seem to indicate that the sender is associated with Formula One circles.
“A probable death warrant for Lewis” was the intriguing subject line of the email, which implied that the 39-year-old motorist is in danger because he was driven on cold tires.
The entire email reads as follows: “Some of us on the team are not happy about the way Toto, lover boy George, and others are mistreating Lewis, as well as the systematic sabotage of his car, race plan, tyre strategy, and mental health.”
“Toto is spiteful and acts like a disgruntled spouse, refusing to communicate with Lewis but making every effort to exact revenge on him.” Lewis is left out, and there are some unscrupulous activities going on that people should be aware of.
Hamilton must now focus on the Spanish Grand Prix this coming weekend.
When you probe for the truth, it will come to light. Everything is tracked and included in the data. All of us who like Lewis and Bono (Peter Bonnington, Hamilton’s race engineer) are the only ones on a hazardous path that could endanger the lives of Lewis, other drivers, and even members of the public. A cold-tire approach is a recipe for disaster.
“Toto, George, be careful and accurate.” Not all of us are willing to participate in your unjust and careless devastation of Lewis in order to satisfy your own ego.
