Miami
The team will wear two throwback jerseys at home and on the road this season.
The Miami Dolphins declared on Wednesday night that this season’s “Throwback Thursdays” will take place. For each of their two scheduled Thursday night games, they will don a retro uniform.
This season, the Dolphins will wear them away from home once. Although they wore them mostly for home games, in 2003 the Dolphins went on the road for a Thanksgiving Day game against Dallas, which they won 40-21.
The two Thursday night games this season are on Thanksgiving Day and September 12 at home against the Buffalo Bills, where Miami will be donning aqua throwback jerseys and white trousers. Miami will wear white jerseys and matching trousers at Lambeau Field when they play the Packers on Thanksgiving when they go to Green Bay.
When the squad first started playing in 1966, their first uniform was white throwbacks. They donned them during 1973’s second Super Bowl-winning campaign.
The Dolphins wore their aqua throwbacks at two different home games last year. These were the team’s outfits for a home game against the New England Patriots in late October. They were again worn for the team’s Christmas Eve game against the Dallas Cowboys. Miami prevailed in both contests.
Owner Stephen Ross is a big admirer of the Dolphins, but he favours the team’s normal clothes, which has angered numerous Dolphins fans, as shown by a Change.org petition.
Since 2013, when Ross commissioned a new uniform design and logo, the Dolphins have been using their current uniforms.
