Erik Spoelstra, the coach of the Miami Heat, announced his resignation following
Does Pat Riley ultimately intend to bring LeBron James back to Miami?
According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Miami Heat are apparently actively scouting Bronny James and may choose to select him with a 2024 lottery pick.
In a conversation with “The Pat McAfee Show,” Charania revealed which teams are actively watching the USC freshman.
Miami, Toronto, and the Lakers have all scouted him. Charania claims that several teams have scouted Bronny James. “Will he declare for the draft or go back to college?” is the question.
Even though the Heat have it this year, the Lakers will give up their first-round pick to the Pelicans in order to get Anthony Davis. Thus, in order for the Lakers to advance, Bronny needs to lose in the second round.
On the other hand, because they have two first-round picks and a second-round pick (via the Pistons), the Raptors are the sleepers.
It is anticipated that Detroit will select early in the second round of the draft because they have the worst record in the league this season.
It’s been known for a while that James would want to play with his son until his playing days were over. Earlier this month, NBA insider Marc Stein reported that James could be willing to accept a pay cut and share the court with Bronny instead of exercising his $51 million player option with the Lakers.
James said last year that one of his final few NBA dreams was to play alongside Bronny.
James told ESPN, “I got to be on the floor with Bronny; I need to be on the floor with my child.”
It is still unclear if Bronny will play only one season in college or return to USC for another. Many predict that Bronny, who suffered a cardiac arrest during the first half of his rookie season, will return for his sophomore year.
James has until June 29 to decide if he wants to accept the player option from the Lakers. The dates of the NBA Draft are June 26–27, 2024. The week leading up to the July free agency window may be very interesting.
