Just In: Miami Heat star who could bring team ‘back on track’ returns from injury after…

Jamie Jaquez is needed more than expected, plain and simple.

When Jaquez isn’t playing for the Miami Heat, they are 1-5. He does clean up a lot, but his return from injury won’t make their troubles go away instantly.

The easiest buckets and opportunities that Jaquez generates are the most obvious thing the Heat are lacking. He’s usually been spotted crashing the boards for a put-back or cutting back doors for an easy layup.

During this current five-game losing streak, that aspect of the Heat offense has been completely absent.Jaquez had averaged 17 points and five rebounds in his previous four games prior to his groin injury.

Although Jaquez’s contributions don’t always show up on the stat sheet, his influence is noticeable. He is a rookie, yet his composure and patience are remarkable.

Jaquez never seems to be forcing a basket; everything always happens naturally in the flow of the play. With so many mouths to feed these days, a hookup is necessary.

“[The Heat] have a bunch of guys right now that kind of stand around when they don’t have it, get it, and then they want to put it down and call for another screen.” Tim Legler of ESPN stated on Zach Lowe’s program.

“With the exception of Duncan Robinson, who will presumably run around a lot, catch, and shoot the ball when he gets it. Everyone else seems to be trying to establish a rhythm off the dribble.”

He continues by saying that Erik Spoelstra is the ideal coach to solve it.

Jaquez immediately sprang to mind when I was listening to that. He’s the altruistic man who consistently makes the correct play. He doesn’t even need to dribble the ball in order to have an impact.

The youngster might be able to save the Heat from their mucky situation.
